Birth Support
I hired Amy as a doula for my first pregnancy because of her friendly attitude, as well as her experience with anxiety and loss. I was pregnant following a miscarriage and appreciated having someone who could support those complex feelings. Amy provided us with prenatal support, including two very informative in person meetings that helped us with birth planning, learning how to diaper, and labour preparation. She was also always available by text for any questions.
When I went into labour early, Amy came over to our house to provide assistance and comfort. She offered techniques to help move labour along, which worked very well! Amy was helpful in letting us know when to head to the hospital, and drove ahead of us on the way. Although covid restrictions kept her out of the hospital room at first, Amy joined us when she could and provided invaluable support throughout the unmedicated labour and delivery. She came home with us to help get us settled with the new baby, and returned for multiple post natal visits to help with breastfeeding and bathing. Again, she was always available by text for any questions.
The pregnancy, labour and delivery, and post natal period were so much more manageable thanks to Amy’s individualized support. If we get pregnant again, I would absolutely hire Amy again!

Birth Support
First off, I want to say that Amy is a wonderful person! Bubbly, outgoing and very laid back. She is the type of person you want to be around any day of the week.
Amy has extensive knowledge in many areas that relate to pregnancy and postpartum including; prenatal yoga, mental health training and experience dealing with trauma on a regular basis (to name a few). She is very calm, cool and collected under pressure, which is exactly who we wanted in our corner if things went sideways.
We appreciated her flexibility when it came to payments, as it made my dream of having a doula a reality. If you are concerned about the cost (which she is very affordable based on her skills and expertise that she offers), reach out to her anyways, as she is very accommodating!
We had a relatively smooth pregnancy until I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. It was a hard pill to swallow because it changed my entire birth plan. Amy was helpful in this time, checking in on me and my partner to make sure we were feeling okay with these changes. She also offered to come out a second time to go over our birth plan, as everything had changed and I had a ton of questions.
Unfortunately, we were on the induction call list for 7 days! This was especially hard because we were literally waiting by the phone for go time. Amy would check in regularly and offer encouraging words and advice when needed. It is safe to say she kept me grounded during this time.
When we finally got called in, my labour was relatively smooth sailing until I reached 10 cm. The babies heart rate dropped drastically and we went from being told it was almost time to push to a flood of people coming in the room. I was being told that it could be an emergency c section and then everything became a blur. Amy was very calm as my partner and I started to panic. She reassured us of what we wanted, reminded us we have the time to make informed decisions and she helped us both remain calm and get our baby out safely.
My partner didn’t really fully understand why I wanted a doula but supported me anyways. Throughout the pregnancy I reminded him that Amy is also there for him if he had questions or concerns. He did end up reaching out to her more as our due date neared. After the birth scare, my partner said it was worth every penny and would recommend to anyone getting a doula (especially Amy).
Amy is wonderful and I can’t imagine anyone else being there for us in that special time. Do not hesitate to reach out to her!

Postpartum Support
Having a doula was one of my best decisions for my postpartum care. As a first-time mom, I was feeling overwhelmed, nervous, and scared - I had never been around many babies before, so having Amy there was so reassuring. She bonded with our new son and family so quickly that it made me feel more confident as a mother and never afraid to ask all the questions at any time. I always felt supported whether it was Amy showing us how to bathe our newborn, answering my silly texts about all things baby (I always would ask Amy before Googling, haha), or just being there to giggle with about all the new whirlwinds motherhood brings. When my husband went back to work, I was still recovering from my cesarean section and had been feeling lost, and having Amy there to support me gave me the chance to focus on myself again and validate my feelings. I always remember what Amy said to my husband and I, "Fit the baby into what you like to do in life" and we are all happier for it.

Birth Support
If you’re pregnant and considering hiring a doula, look no further than Amy Silva. As a very anxious, first time mother, I highly recommend her services. We hired her as soon as I found out I was pregnant, and she was there for us to answer any questions and concerns we had.
My partner is quite anxious as well, and she not only made sure I had the support I needed, but also made sure my partner felt reassured through my pregnancy. She made house calls to us, as well as answering my many questions that I texted or DM’ed randomly throughout my pregnancy. She helped up create a birth plan, and kept us calm leading up to the birth.
When it came time for labour and delivery, i seriously wouldn’t have made it through without her. She was there to support and encourage me through a fully natural, unmedicated vaginal birth. She then continued to check in with us every day, asking how myself and the baby, and my partner were doing, as well as coming over to help me get set up with my breast pump.
Her calming demeanour is next level, and kept me anxiety free throughout my entire pregnancy and delivery. I can’t recommend or even thank Amy enough for what she did for me to welcome my new tiny human into the world. 10/10 would recommend. You need Amy by your side!

Overnight Support
I contacted Amy when I was nearing the end of my pregnancy as I knew I needed some overnight support. Going back to work very early was so challenging with my first since I had no help and was constantly sleep deprived. Sleep deprivation led me down a long path of PPD which I knew I could not repeat the second time around. I interviewed a few overnight doulas and Amy felt like the best fit for us. The first night I felt at peace, I could FINALLY sleep and not be worried or on edge the entire night about being woken up every hour. The process was super smooth… Amy would let herself in and let herself out in the morning, I got an entire nights sleep and every one was happy. If I were to have another baby there is no doubt in my mind I would have Amy help us out again. She saved me in so many ways and I still think about how grateful for her I am, 2 years later!!! If you are on the fence about an overnight doula, my only advice to you is to go ahead and DO IT, you will not regret your choice of hiring Amy.
