Healing Journeys: My Traumatic Stress Studies Certificate Journey

Hello, dear community! I am humbled to share some exciting news with you all. Recently, I have been accepted into the prestigious Traumatic Stress Studies Certificate Program led by the esteemed Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk. This program presents a unique opportunity for me to deepen my understanding of trauma, its impact on the brain and body, and enhance my ability to support individuals through major life transitions, such as pregnancy, birth, postpartum, end of life, death and through people’s individual healing journey. I am incredibly excited to be able to offer my doula, trauma & grief and yoga clients all I will learn from this training.

In this blog post, I will explain how this program will enable me to enrich my modalities and empower healing journeys while working to prevent trauma. The Traumatic Stress Studies Certificate Program (TSSCP) offered by the Trauma Research Foundation is designed to equip participants with a deep understanding of trauma and its various impacts on individuals. The program delves into the complex ways trauma affects the brain and body. By studying advanced research on PTSD and developmental trauma, I will gain profound insights into the physiological and psychological mechanisms underlying trauma responses.

One of the most exciting aspects of this certificate program is its focus on efficacy. The TSSCP explores a wide array of clinical treatment methods and modalities, allowing me to improve outcomes for those I work with. Armed with evidence-based approaches, I can better support individuals on their healing journeys through trauma, grief, and loss.

Upon completing the TSSCP, I will be granted a certificate of completion from the esteemed Trauma Research Foundation. This not only highlights my personal and professional accomplishment but distinguishes me as committed to improving therapeutic outcomes. The certificate will show my clients and community my dedication to supporting individuals through their healing journey with trauma, grief, and loss. This program opens doors for continued professional development and I cannot wait to better support my clients and community.

As an Indigenous trauma-informed doula, trauma, grief, and loss support educator, and yoga teacher, my journey through the Traumatic Stress Studies Certificate Program promises to be transformative. By deepening my understanding of trauma's impact on the brain and body and incorporating evidence-based clinical treatment methods, I hope to empower and support individuals on their healing journeys through major life transitions and prevent trauma when possible. With gratitude for my Indigenous Ancestors that have walked before me and pride in my Indigenous heritage, I am committed to serving my community through an Indigenous lens, supporting both Indigenous and non Indigenous communities and individuals on their path to healing. Together, let us create a world where compassion, understanding, and healing prevail.
